MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Darryl Bryant scored 24 points and Joe Mazzulla distributed seven assists Saturday in West Virginia's 72-58 upset of No. 7 Notre Dame.
Bryant hit 10-of-12 foul shots, Mazzulla contributed 16 points and Kevin Jones chipped in with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Mountaineers (17-9, 8-6 Big East), who enhanced their post-season hopes with a key home win.
John Flowers hauled down 10 boards to go with five points for West Virginia, which had lost three of four coming into the contest.
Ben Hansbrough led Notre Dame (21-5, 10-4) with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Carleton Scott added 11 points and 11 boards for the Fighting Irish, who failed in their bid to match a school record with an eighth straight Big East Conference win.
