COL BKB: Pittsburgh 71, West Virginia 66

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Nasir Robinson scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds Monday, boosting No. 4 Pittsburgh to a 71-66 win over Big East rival West Virginia.

Gary McGhee added 13 points and six boards and Brad Wanamaker contributed 11 and nine for the Panthers (22-2, 10-1 Big East), who prevailed in the "Backyard Brawl" against the Mountaineers.

The Panthers went on an 8-2 run beginning with Gilbert Brown's layup with 3:45 left in the contest to put the game away.

Brown's score gave his team a 61-58 lead and, after each squad missed a pair of shots, Wanamaker's hoop with 2 minutes to go put Pitt up 63-58 and the Panthers held on to avenge an ugly loss at West Virginia last year.

Deniz Kilicli led the Mountaineers (15-8, 6-5) with 19 points and Kevin Jones added 12 and eight rebounds in the setback.
