DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki advanced Wednesday to the third round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Wozniacki moved out of the second round when Anna Chakvetadze suffered a gastrointestinal illness and couldn't continue the match. Wozniacki was ahead 6-1, 3-5 when play was stopped.

If Wozniacki can make the semifinals -- two rounds away yet -- in Dubai she'll regain the world No. 1 ranking, which she lost Monday to Kim Clijsters.

All but one of the 14 seeded players on Wednesday's 16-match schedule advanced as did Patty Schnyder and Ayumi Morita, who had posted first-round upsets of seeded players. Schnyder defeated Zheng Jie 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 and Morita was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Sania Mirza in their second-round matches.

Yanina Wickmayer notched the day's lone upset, taking out No. 5-seeded Li Na 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 in a tight 2 1/2-hour match decided on two late third-set breaks by Wickmayer.

Second-seeded Vera Zvonareva topped Roberta Vinci 6-3, 6-1 while No. 3 Francesca Schiavone also won 6-3, 6-1, beating Zhang Shuai. Fourth-seeded Samantha Stosur had six service breaks in a 6-0, 6-1 rout of Sara Errani.

Also Wednesday, sixth-seeded Jelena Jankovic topped Chanelle Scheepers 6-2, 6-3; No. 7 Victoria Azarenka defeated Peng Shuai 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 (7-5); and eighth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska got by Anastasija Sevastova 7-5, 6-4.

Other second-round winners were Shahar Peer, Marion Bartoli, Flavia Pennetta, Kaia Kanepi, Alisa Kleybanova and Svetlana Kuznetsova.
