COL BKB: Purdue 63, Penn State 62

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- A jump shot from JaJuan Johnson with 3.4 seconds remaining Wednesday gave No. 13 Purdue a 63-62 victory over Penn State.

The Boilermakers led by as many as 13 points late in the first half but the Nittany Lions turned the contest into a thrilling one down the stretch.

David Jackson put Penn State in front at 62-61 with a 3-pointer that came with 19.3 seconds remaining. Johnson put up his winning shot from just inside the 3-point line.

Purdue's Lewis Jackson stole the ensuing inbounds pass to clinch the game and allow the Boilermakers to avoid a third straight loss.

Purdue (16-3, 5-1 Big Ten) was led by Johnson's 25 points. E'Twaun Moore added 16.

Penn State (10-8, 3-4), which was playing its fifth straight game against a ranked opponent, was paced by Jeff Brooks with 19 points.
