NHL: Vancouver 7, Columbus 3

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Raffi Torres scored twice Thursday, one of the goals coming during a run of six straight tallies that sent the Vancouver Canucks cruising past Columbus 7-3.

Vancouver maintained its lead in the Northwest Division by taking a 6-0 lead late in the second period.

Alex Burrows, Christian Ehrhoff and Torres all scored in a span of 4:05 of the opening stanza. Daniel Sedin, Ryan Kesler and Henrik Sedin had goals in the second.

Torres delivered his second goal of the game and his 10th of the season 6:46 into the third to boost the Vancouver lead to 7-1.

Cory Schneider had to make only 13 saves to pick up his fourth victory in six appearances this season. His two losses have come in overtime.

Mathieu Garon was removed after allowing six goals during the first two periods. Steve Mason came on in the third.
