COL BKB: UCLA 86, Brigham Young 79

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Reeves Nelson led a parade of four Bruins scoring in double figures Saturday, racking up 23 points in UCLA's 86-79 victory over No. 18 Brigham Young.

Nelson went 8-of-15 from the field, Tyler Honeycutt added 17 points and eight rebounds, Joshua Smith contributed 15 points and eight boards, and Lazeric Jones scored 12 points for UCLA (6-4).

The Bruins took the lead at 20-18 on a pair of Nelson free throws, part of a 15-3 first-half run that helped boost UCLA to a 43-37 halftime advantage.

BYU narrowed the deficit to one point at 61-59 on three Jackson Emery free throws, but Smith answered with a basket and Jones connected on a 3-pointer for a 66-59 UCLA advantage with 9:41 left.

Jimmer Fredette popped in 25 points off the bench and Brandon Davies added 18 in a reserve role for the Cougars (10-1), who absorbed their first loss of the season.
