MLB: Cincinnati 5, Los Angeles Dodgers 2

CINCINNATI, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Bronson Arroyo delivered seven workman-like innings and Joey Votto drove in three runs Sunday in the Cincinnati Reds' 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Arroyo (14-7) surrendered two runs on seven hits without a walk and struck out six, notching his first career win in Dodger Stadium and handing the first-place Reds a key victory.

Nick Masset tossed a scoreless eighth inning and Francisco Cordero turned in a 1-2-3 ninth for Cincinnati, which took the rubber match of a three-game series with Los Angeles and maintained a 3 1/3-game lead over St. Louis in the National League Central.

Votto socked a solo homer, his 29th, in the sixth inning and added a two-run single in the ninth, raising his average to .323.

Brandon Phillips went 4-for-5 with a run scored and Ryan Hanigan drove in a pair of runs for the Reds.

Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw (11-8) struck out 11 in seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits and five walks.
