MLB: St. Louis 11, Pittsburgh 1

ST. LOUIS, July 31 (UPI) -- Colby Rasmus and Albert Pujols homered to key a 15-hit attack and the St. Louis Cardinals pounded Pittsburgh 11-1 Saturday.

Rasmus finished with three RBI and scored three runs and Pujols went 3-for-5 and crossed the plate twice for St. Louis, which maintained a half-game lead over Cincinnati atop the National League Central.

Yaddier Molina went 3-for-4 and Matt Holliday and Skip Schumaker each drove in two runs for the Cards.

Jeff Suppan (1-6) tossed 5 1/3 shutout innings to collect his first victory in eight starts and five Cardinals relievers teamed up to hold the Pirates to one run on three hits the rest of the way.

Pittsburgh starter Daniel McCutchen (1-5) issued six walks in 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits.

Jeff Clement hit a pinch-hit homer and Jose Tabata went 3-for-4 for the Pirates.
