SEATTLE, July 25 (UPI) -- Boston's Jon Lester carried a perfect game into the sixth inning Saturday only to unravel after a botched catch and Seattle went on to win 5-1.

Lester (11-5) had struck out 10 Mariners batters before Eric Patterson had a fly ball by Jack Wilson glance off his glove with one out in the sixth. Michael Saunders then cranked a homer to right.

Lester wound up surrendering all five Seattle runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk in 7 2/3 innings. He finished with a season-best 13 strikeouts.

The Mariners had lost the first two games of the four-game series.
