
KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 27 (UPI) -- Wilson Betemit's three-run homer gave Kansas City the lead and the Royals went on to pound St. Louis 10-3 Sunday in an inter-league game.
Betemit's blast highlighted a 15-hit attack and Jose Guillen went 2-for-3 with an RBI to extend his hitting streak to 21 games as the Royals took the rubber match of a three-game series at Kauffman Stadium.
Jason Kendall drove in four runs, going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored, David DeJesus added three hits and knocked in a pair, and Scott Podsednik collected two hits and scored three runs for Kansas City.
Bruce Chen (4-2) limited the Cardinals to two runs on two hits over five innings, walking four and striking out five.
St. Louis starter Jaime Garcia (7-4) was torched for five runs in a two-inning start.
