NBA: New Orleans 97, Minnesota 96

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Chris Paul made a layup with 1.4 seconds to play Wednesday, finishing off a New Orleans rally and giving the Hornets a 97-96 win over Minnesota.

The Timberwolves owned a 15-point lead in the third period before giving way to the New Orleans comeback.

Paul scored 15 points and handed out 14 assists. Peja Stojakovic made 5-of-6 tries from 3-point range and led the way for New Orleans with 21 points. It was the third straight win for the Hornets.

New Orleans made 13-of-25 3-pointers overall.

Ryan Gomes led Minnesota with 21 points. The Timberwolves, winners of just three games this season, scored only 32 points in the second half.

After Paul made the game-winning shot, Wayne Ellington missed a long attempt for the Timberwolves as the buzzer sounded.
