Chris Pronger and Jeff Carter scored for Philadelphia and Ray Emery allowed three goals on 25 shots.

Gaustad scored what proved to be the winner at 6:25 of the third period, less than four minutes after Pronger had gotten the Flyers on the board with a wrister from the right point at 2:43 of the third period.

Vanek's goal gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead at the end of one period. It was only the third time this season the Flyers coughed up the first goal of a game.
