NHL: Vancouver 2, Minnesota 1

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Mikael Samuelsson scored the game-winning goal in Vancouver's 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild Saturday.

Samuelsson buried his fourth goal of the season at 3:49 of the final period on a power play and gave the Canucks their third win in four games.

Ryan Kesler also scored for Vancouver and Roberto Luongo made 17 saves on a modest 18 shots.

Minnesota's Niklas Backstrom was peppered with 39 shots as the Wild continued searching for their first win on the road.

Mikko Koivu scored Minnesota's only goal, giving the Wild a 1-0 lead in the first period that stood up until early in the second period when Kesler scored his third goal of the season.
