ATLANTA, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Jorge Cantu singled home the winning run Tuesday when the Florida Marlins posted a 5-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Cameron Maybin hit a two-run homer and Chris Coghlan had three hits and two runs scored for the Marlins.

With four games remaining, the Marlins would need to win all four and have Colorado lose all of its remaining games for Florida to reach the playoffs. The Rockies hosted the Brewers Tuesday night.

Matt Diaz hit a three-run homer for Atlanta, which entered the game with seven straight wins but is now five games behind Philadelphia in the NL East race with five to play. Following the loss to the Phillies the Braves were still alive in the wild-card chase -- 2 1/2 games behind Colorado.

Philadelphia's magic number to clinch the NL East was reduced to one with the Atlanta loss.

Renyel Pinto (4-1) pitched 1 1/3 shutout relief innings to earn the win.

Kenshin Kawakami (7-12) suffered the loss.
