
ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Marlon Byrd had two hits and three RBI Monday in the Texas Rangers' 8-5 victory over Minnesota.
Michael Young, Kevin Richardson and Josh Hamilton had two hits each for the Rangers, who have won three straight games and five of their last six. Richardson was making his MLB debut.
Texas starter Tommy Hunter (6-2) went 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts to get the win.
Francisco Liriano (5-12) got the loss for Minnesota, after giving up seven runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout in just two innings.
Joe Maurer had three hits, including a home run, and scored twice for the Twins, who have lost three straight games. Maurer ended the evening hitting .380.
