CHICAGO, July 22 (UPI) -- A triple by Alexei Ramirez keyed a three-run seventh inning Wednesday that brought the Chicago White Sox from behind to a 4-3 victory over Tampa Bay.

The White Sox moved to within a game of division-leading Detroit in the American League Central.

A solo homer by Pat Burrell in the fourth and a two-run shot by Gabe Gross in the sixth staked the Rays to a 3-1 lead, but Chicago erased its deficit in the seventh despite Tampa Bay sending five pitchers to the mound in the inning.

Starter James Shields retired the first two batters in the seventh, but walked Gordon Beckham and was relieved by Randy Choate.

Scott Podsednik greeted Choate with an infield single and both runners moved up on a throwing error by shortstop Jason Bartlett.

Chad Bradford was summoned to replace Choate and Bradford felt pain in his throwing arm while warming up, so he was relieved by Dan Wheeler.

Ramirez worked a full count on Wheeler before sending a triple to center that created a 3-3 tie. Ramirez then scored the go-ahead run on a single by Jermaine Dye.

Joe Nelson became the fifth pitcher of the inning and got Jim Thome on strikes to end the frame. Wheeler (3-3) was charged with the loss.

Carlos Torres started for the injured John Danks and held Tampa Bay to three runs in six innings. D.J. Carrasco (3-0) got the win by working the seventh and Matt Thornton got his first save with a two-inning stint.
