MLB: Arizona 4, San Diego 3

PHOENIX, July 8 (UPI) -- Chad Tracy and Gerardo Parra each drove in two runs for the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday in their 4-3 win over the visiting San Diego Padres.

Doug Davis (4-8), allowed a dozen base runners but picked up the win by battling through 6 1/3 innings. He gave up nine hits and walked three but also struck out six.

Kevin Correia (5-7) took the loss after giving up four runs -- three earned -- on six hits over six innings. He also notched a half-dozen strikeouts.

San Diego took an early lead on Eliezer Alfonzo's RBI single in the second.

Arizona came back with two runs in the third and another pair in the fourth.

The Padres were undone by their fielding in the third. Correia failed to handle a bunt by Davis that allowed Chris Young to score from third. Davis came home later on Edgar Gonzalez's throwing error.

Parra tripled to drive in Arizona's first run of the fourth inning and then scored on Tracy's sacrifice fly.

San Diego picked up a run in the seventh on Tony Gwynn's RBI single and then added a run in the eighth on a double by Chase Headley that hit the top of the right-field wall and bounced back in play rather than into the seats for what would have been a game-tying home run.
