NHL: Washington 2, Nashville 1 (OT)

NASHVILLE, March 10 (UPI) -- Sergei Fedorov scored 2:20 into overtime Tuesday to give the Washington Capitals a 2-1 victory over the Nashville Predators.

Nicklas Backstrom scored a regulation goal for the Capitals, who ended a season-long four-game losing streak. Jose Theodore stopped 27-of-28 shots to earn the victory, his 25th of the season.

Ryan Suter scored the lone goal for the Predators. Nashville goalie Dan Ellis made 42 saves.

After regulation ended in a 1-1 tie, Washington's. Viktor Kozlov passed the puck to Fedorov out in front, who faked out Ellis and put the puck into the wide-open net.
