NBA: New Orleans 99, New Jersey 96

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., March 1 (UPI) -- Chris Paul's 19-foot jumper with 40 seconds left Sunday gave the New Orleans Hornets a 99-96 win over the New Jersey Nets.

When the all-star guard sank his dramatic game-winner, New Orleans trailed 95-94.

Its biggest lead was 60-47 on Paul's jumper with 8:34 left in the third period.

David West led New Orleans with 32 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Rasual Butler added 22 with four rebounds.

Paul totaled 14 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and four steals, while Peja Stojakovic added 11 points and six rebounds in the Hornets' fourth victory in a row.

Devin Harris and Vince Carter led New Jersey with 26 points apiece. Harris added 14 assists, but could not overcome six personal turnovers. Carter also had three rebounds and three assists.

Reserve Jarvis Hayes scored 13 with seven rebounds, but no other player reached double figures for the Nets, who have split their last four contests.
