MLB: LA Angels 5, Detroit 4

DETROIT, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Torii Hunter was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI Tuesday, propelling the Los Angeles Angels to a 5-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Vladimir Guerrero also had three hits and scored a run for the Angels, who have won four of their last five games.

Angels starter Joe Saunders, who lasted 6 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on eight hits in the no-decision, is winless in his last six outings. Scot Shields (6-4) was charged with a blown save, but also got the win with an inning of one-run ball. Francisco Rodriguez worked around a walk and a hit in the ninth to earn his major league best 54th save.

Miguel Cabrera was 3-for-4, including a solo homer, and had three RBI for the Tigers, who have lost seven of their last nine games.

Fernando Rodney (0-4) gave up a ninth-inning run to take the loss.
