SAN DIEGO, July 29 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux got career win 351 Monday, his first victory since May 10, and the San Diego Padres beat Arizona 8-5.
Maddux (4-8) was 0-5 in 14 starts since putting up career victory 350. He pitched five-plus innings Monday, allowing four runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
Trevor Hoffman pitched 2/3 of an inning to get his 22nd save.
Nick Hundley had a three-run homer and Khalil Green had a two-run homer for the Padres, who won their fourth straight.
Chris Young had a two-run homer and Stephen Drew and Conor Jackson each had an RBI for the Diamondbacks, who lost for the first time in their last four games.
Micah Owings (6-9) took the loss, giving up eight runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in three innings. Owings started the season 6-2 but is 0-7 in his last 12 starts.
