BOSTON, June 22 (UPI) -- Kevin Youkilis hit two homers Sunday, including a two-run game-winner in the bottom of the 13th inning which gave Boston a 5-3 win over St. Louis.

The lengthy inter-league battle at Fenway Park went to extra innings when St. Louis' Adam Kennedy hit a game-tying RBI double with two outs in the top of the ninth inning off Boston closer Jonathan Papelbon.

Both Mike Lowell and Julio Lugo had one RBI.

Dustin Pedroia had four hits, Lowell had three hits and Coco Crisp added two hits for the American League East-leading Red Sox, who stopped a two-game skid.

The winner was Javier Lopez (2-0).

St. Louis' Aaron Miles went 5 for 6.

Three players had one RBI, including Kennedy, who had three hits of the Cardinals' 16 hits.

The losing pitcher was Mike Parisi (0-3).
