MLB: N.Y. Yankees 6, Minnesota 5

MINNEAPOLIS, May 31 (UPI) -- Alex Rodriguez doubled home the go-ahead run in the fifth Friday and the New York Yankees rallied from an early deficit to defeat Minnesota 6-5.

The Twins took a 4-1 lead after one inning, but were unable to hold on for what would have been their fifth straight victory.

Rodriguez singled home a run in the third and Melky Cabrera tied it in the fourth with a two-run double.

Bobby Abreu led off the fifth against Glen Perkins (2-2) with a single and then came around to score when Rodriguez doubled to center. New York added an insurance run in the seventh with Hideki Matsui's single delivering Abreu. That run became the winning tally when Minnesota's Justin Morneau homered in the eighth.

The New York comeback made a winner out of Mike Mussina (8-4), who allowed two runs on six hits in six innings. It was Mussina's seventh victory in eight starts.

Mariano Rivera walked one and struck out two in the ninth to pick up his 14th save.
