MLB: Tampa Bay 5, Texas 3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 28 (UPI) -- Matt Garza yielded two earned runs and just four hits in eight innings Wednesday to help Tampa Bay down the Texas Rangers 5-3.

In his longest outing this season, the right-hander, a first-round pick in the 2005 amateur player draft by Minnesota, walked two batters, struck out 10 and threw 77 of 114 pitches for strikes.

Dan Wheeler earned his first save after closer Troy Percival suffered an undisclosed injury in the ninth.

Five players drove in one run and Akinori Iwamura had two runs and two hits for the American League East-leading Rays, who drew again drew less than 11,000 home fans despite the best start in franchise history.

Texas' Milton Bradley hit a two-run single in the fourth.

Frank Catalanotto added two hits and one RBI for the Rangers, who have split their last four games.

Starting and losing pitcher Kason Gabbard (1-2) surrendered five runs -- four earned -- and five hits in 4 1/3 innings with six walks and two strikeouts.
