STRASBOURG, France, May 22 (UPI) -- Swiss teen Timea Bacsinszky pulled off an upset Thursday at the Strasbourg International and will have a chance Friday for another.

Bacsinszky defeated second-seeded Alona Bondarenko in the quarterfinals 7-6 (8-6), 6-2.

Waiting for Bacsinszky in the semifinals will be two-time champion Anabel Medina Garrigues, who shocked Amelie Mauresmo in last year's title match. Medina Garrigues reached the semifinals Thursday when fourth-seeded Flavia Pennetta withdrew, citing a thigh injury.

Katarina Srebotnik advanced with a 6-4, 7-5 decision over Shuai Peng and Yung-Jan Chan earned a semifinal berth by defeating Ai Sugiyama 6-4, 6-2.
