MLB: Boston 1, Toronto 0

BOSTON, April 29 (UPI) -- Kevin Youkilis' two-out single in the bottom of the ninth scored David Ortiz with the game's only run Tuesday, delivering Boston a 1-0 win over Toronto.

Jonathan Papelbon (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless ninth. Red Sox starter Jon Lester allowed one hit over eight shutout innings with six strikeouts and four walks.

Roy Halladay (2-4) was the loser for the Blue Jays, who have lost seven of their last eight games. Halladay scattered five hits and the winning run over 8 2/3 innings with six strikeouts and one walk.

Halladay started the ninth by retiring Coco Crisp and Dustin Pedroia before allowing a walk to Ortiz and a bloop single by Manny Ramirez. Youkilis' hit dropped in front of a deep-playing outfield.
