NHL: Dallas 5, Anaheim 2

ANAHEIM, Calif., April 13 (UPI) -- Mike Modano put Dallas ahead as part of a three-goal third period Saturday, sending the Stars to a 5-2 win over Anaheim and a 2-0 lead in their playoff series.

Dallas let a 2-0 lead slip away in the second period, but the Stars dominated the third to take control against the defending Stanley Cup champions.

After scoring four times on the power play in Game 1, Dallas added two more power-play goals Saturday.

One came from Modano, whose slapshot beat Jean-Sebastien Giguere 5:45 into the third. Brad Richards scored just 55 seconds later and Loui Eriksson added a goal with 5:24 to play.

Marty Turco stopped 20 shots to get the win and Dallas also got goals from Mike Ribeiro and Jere Lehtinen.

The Stars, who are trying to get past the opening round of the playoffs for the first time in five years, will be at home for Game 3 Tuesday.
