NBA: Portland 112, LA Lakers 103

PORTLAND, Ore., April 9 (UPI) -- Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Channing Frye combined for 67 points Tuesday in the Portland Trail Blazers' 112-103 decision over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Roy had 23 points and 12 assists, while Aldridge had 22 points and 16 rebounds, and Frye had 22 points and 11 boards. It was the sixth straight time Portland has defeated the Lakers at the Rose Garden.

Kobe Bryant scored 34 points for the Lakers, who remained 1 1/2 games behind New Orleans in the Western Conference. Pau Gasol had 21 points and 13 boards for Los Angeles, which is a game ahead of Phoenix for first place in the Pacific Division.

Portland led 28-24 after the first quarter, 58-47 at the half and then used a 14-4 run to forge a 16-point lead late in the third period. Los Angeles battled back to within 107-101 with less than 45 seconds left but the Blazers made a couple of key stops and hit their foul shots down the stretch to seal the Lakers' first loss in four games.
