MLB: San Diego 4, LA Dodgers 1

SAN DIEGO, April 5 (UPI) -- Jake Peavy pitched a complete-game two-hitter Saturday to pace the San Diego Padres to a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Peavy (2-0) allowed one run and struck out eight to earn his first complete game since Sept. 2, 2006, and the sixth of his career. Brian Giles, Kevin Kouzmanoff and Khalil Greene each had two hits for San Diego, with Kouzmanoff and Greene each driving in a run.

Brad Penny (1-1) gave up four runs on 10 hits over six innings. Joe Beimel and Ramon Troncoso combined for two scoreless innings in relief for LA.

Rafael Furcal tripled and James Loney doubled in the fourth to account for the Dodgers two hits.

The Padres scored all their runs in the first inning. Kouzmanoff, Greene and Josh Bard each had RBI singles and Scott Hairston added a sacrifice fly as San Diego sent nine men to the plate in the inning.
