MINNEAPOLIS, April 5 (UPI) -- Adam Everett bunted home the go-ahead run in the fourth inning Friday and the Minnesota Twins made the one-run lead stand up for a 4-3 victory over Kansas City.
Carlos Gomez had three hits and scored a run in helping Minnesota halt a three-game losing streak.
Scott Baker (1-0) gave up three runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings to get the win and Joe Nathan picked up his second save of the year by working the ninth.
Minnesota right-fielder Michael Cuddyer had to leave the game in the third inning when he suffered a dislocated right index finger. He also lacerated the finger when he collided with Kansas City's Alex Gordon while sliding into third base.
Cuddyer was placed on the 15-day disabled list after the game.
Kansas City suffered its first loss of the season after sweeping Detroit.
John Bale (0-1) gave up 10 hits and four runs in 6 1/3 innings to take the loss.
Mike Lamb led off the Minnesota fourth with a double, went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Mike Tolbert and scored what turned out to be the winning run when Everett laid down a perfect squeeze bunt.
