Kuznetsova, Ivanovic to play for title

INDIAN WELLS, Calif., March 22 (UPI) -- Svetlana Kuznetsova and Ana Ivanovic, the tournament's top two seeds, reached the finals Friday at the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, Calif.

Kuznetsova made it into the title match by defeating Maria Sharapova 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

It will be her third championship match of the year, but Kuznetsova has lost the first two -- falling to Justine Henin in an Australian Open tune-up and dropping a decision to Elena Dementieva in Dubai.

Ivanovic, seeded No. 1 in this tournament, was a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 winner over third-seeded Jelena Jankovic.

Ivanovic lost to Sharapova in the finals of the Australian Open this year.
