NBA: New Jersey 102, Indiana 91

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Richard Jefferson equaled a season-high with 36 points Saturday when the New Jersey Nets beat the Indiana Pacers 102-91.

Jefferson scored 17 in the third quarter, including the final seven points in an 11-2 spurt that gave New Jersey a 64-51 lead with 9:01 left in the period. The lead was 78-69 going into the fourth and Indiana did not lead in the final 12 minutes.

Vince Carter scored 24 points with nine rebounds. Josh Boone had 19 points and 13 rebounds and Marcus Williams totaled eight points, seven rebounds and a career-best 13 assists for the Nets, who split the home-and-home series.

Danny Granger led Indiana with 29 points, three rebounds and five assists. Mike Dunleavy had 19 points with four rebounds and Troy Murphy added 13 points and five rebounds for the Pacers, who have lost four of five.

They have dropped 11 of 14 overall and five of six on the road.
