Gelinas opened the scoring at 6:54 of the first when a clearing attempt by Petteri Nummelin bounced off him and into the Minnesota goal.

Nashville went up 2-0 at 8:03 of the first when a shot by Dan Hamhuis caromed off Dumont into the net. Dumont scored his second goal with 1:50 left in the first off a feed from Alexander Radulov.
