FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Laurence Maroney scored on a 4-yard fourth-quarter run to lift the unbeaten New England Patriots to a 31-28 victory Sunday over underdog Philadelphia.
New England, which was favored by three touchdowns, barely escaped with its 11th victory of the season.
Following Maroney's touchdown with 7:20 to play, the Eagles threatened, but Asante Samuel killed a late drive with an interception in the end zone. Early in the game, Samuel ran another interception back for a touchdown.
New England clinched the AFC East title earlier in the day when Jacksonville beat Buffalo.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for 380 yards and a touchdown.
A.J. Feeley, starting in place of the injured Donovan McNabb, passed for 345 yards and three touchdowns for Philadelphia (5-6).
Greg Lewis caught two touchdown passes for the Eagles.
