PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb will miss Sunday's contest at New England because of ongoing ankle and thumb injuries.
The ailments forced him to miss practice all week as Philadelphia prepared to face the unbeaten Patriots Sunday night at Foxboro, Mass.
"We're not putting (McNabb) at risk," Coach Andy Reid said on the Eagles' Web site. "He'd love to play."
McNabb did not improve sufficiently enough to risk further injury against one of the NFL's top defenses.
His replacement, backup A.J. Feeley, engineered two touchdown drives last Sunday in McNabb's absence to rally the Eagles to a 17-7 victory against the winless Miami Dolphins.
Feeley, a former Dolphin, tossed a game-winning touchdown pass against the Patriots Dec. 20, 2004, as Miami beat New England 29-28.
"That was one of my memorable moments there," Feeley said.
Last Sunday, he completed 13 of 19 passes for 116 yards as the Eagles (5-5) rose to the .500 mark for the first time this season.
