NHL: Boston 4, Tampa Bay 1

BOSTON, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Marco Sturm scored twice Thursday night, as the Boston Bruins downed the Tampa Bay Lightning, 4-1.

Sturm scored in the first and third periods, while both Mark Stuart and Peter Schaefer scored once. Andrew Ference and Patrice Bergeron had two assists each, and goalie Tim Thomas stopped 35-of-36 shots, as the Bruins got the fourth victory in their last five games.

Tampa Bay's only goal came from Brad Richards in the second period.

Goalie Johan Holmqvist yielded four goals on 24 shots for the Lightning, whose three-game winning streak ended.

Boston did not have a power-play opportunity because the Lightning had no penalties. Tampa Bay went 0-for-2 on the power play.
