TUCKER'S TOWN, Bermuda, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Angel Cabrera birdied the third playoff hole Wednesday, beating Padraig Harrington and winning the PGA’s Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda.
Cabrera shot a 2-under-par 68, while Harrington carded a 1-under 69 on the final 18 holes. Both players finished the two-round event at 4-under 136.
Cabrera, the reigning U.S. Open champion, sent the Tucker's Town, event into its playoff by making an eagle at the par-5 18th hole in regulation, and Harrington, this year's British Open winner, made a birdie.
Cabrera, a native of Argentina, earned $600,000 and is the event's first international winner winner since Ernie Els in 1997.
Jim Furyk, who got into the field when PGA Champion Tiger Woods pulled out, triple-bogeyed the 11th to fall off the pace, and Masters winner Zach Johnson bogeyed the 18th hole to end his chances of joining the playoff.
Furyk (67) finished 2-under 138, and Johnson (68) was 1-under 139.
