MLB: San Diego 6, Pittsburgh 3

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Kevin Kouzmanoff and Michael Barrett knocked in two runs each Thursday afternoon as the San Diego Padres beat Pittsburgh, 6-3, for a four-game sweep.

Barrett hit a two-run double in the bottom of the second, and Kouzmanoff added a two-run double in the third. Scott Hairston and Khalil Greene both had one RBI, while Greene had two hits, as the Padres won their seventh game in a row.

Winner Brett Tomko (4-11) yielded three earned runs and five hits in six innings, with no walks and six strikeouts.

Closer Trevor Hoffman earned his 40th save this season.

Three Pittsburgh players knocked in one run each, including catcher Carlos Maldonado, who belted a solo homer in the third. Nyjer Morgan had two runs and two hits for the Pirates, who have dropped six straight.

The losing pitcher was starter Matt Morris (9-11).
