Gove, Campbell share lead on PGA Tour

VERONA, N.Y., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Jeff Gove and Chad Campbell shared the lead Thursday after the opening round of the Turning Stone Resort Championship at Verona, N.Y.

Gove and Campbell were tied for the top at 7-under 65, while Mathew Goggin, John Senden, Steve Flesch and Brendon de Jonge were all at 66.

The event is the first post-playoff tournament on the PGA Tour, and features only two players who took part in the FedEx Cup finale in Atlanta last week. Those players, John Rollins and Robert Allenby, both shot 67.

The Turning Stone tournament marks the opening of what the PGA Tour calls its "fall finish," and there is still plenty to play for this year -- especially for a player like Gove.

He ranks 152nd on the PGA Tour money list, and only the top 125 earn their playing card for next year.

Gove holed a 101-yard shot on his final hole for an eagle to earn a share of the lead.
