MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Ross Gload had three RBI Friday afternoon as Kansas City beat Minnesota, 9-4, in the opener of a day/night doubleheader.

His sacrifice fly in the top of the first produced the game's first run, and his two-run homer capped a five-run sixth.

Kansas City's Emil Brown had one run, two hits, and two RBI, while four runs scored on three Minnesota errors.

Billy Butler had three hits and one RBI, while Gload, Brown, and Alex Gordon all had two hits for the Royals, who have won three of four.

Winner Kyle Davies (2-3) surrendered three runs -- two earned -- and four hits in five innings.

Minnesota got one RBI from four players.

No player had more than one hit as the Twins suffered their fourth straight defeat.

Losing pitcher Matt Garza (3-5) gave up three runs -- two earned -- and four hits in 5 1/3 innings with two walks and six strikeouts.
