MLB: Minnesota 2, Texas 1 (10 inn.)

By MIKE RABUN

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Jamey Wright's wild pitch with nobody out in the 10th allowed Nick Punto to score the winning run Friday night as the Minnesota Twins nipped Texas, 2-1.

Punto hit a fly ball to center leading off the 10th, and it not only fell in front of Marlon Byrd but bounced away from him. Punto was able to dash all the way to third base, and scored from there on the first pitch Wright (3-5) threw to Joe Mauer.

Rondell White drove in the other Minnesota run and Matt Guerrier (2-4) got the victory by pitching the 10th.

The Twins won their third straight.
