MLB: Boston 10, LA Angels 5

BOSTON, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- David Ortiz highlighted a six-run fifth inning with a grand slam Saturday as the Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels, 10-5.

Manny Ramirez and Julio Lugo each drove in two runs for the Red Sox, who have won four of their last six games. Alex Cora added two hits and scored twice.

Boston remained five games ahead of the Yankees for first place in the American League East.

Curt Schilling (7-5) allowed five runs on eight hits through six innings with no walks, as he got his first victory since pitching a complete-game one-hitter at Oakland June 7.

Angels’ starter Jered Weaver (8-6) allowed six runs on eight hits and six runs over 4 1/3 innings.

Chone Figgins hit a two-run home run, while Garret Anderson and Reggie Willits drove in a run each for the Angels -- who have lost four of their last six games.
