MLB: LA Angels 4, Minnesota 3

ANAHEIM , Calif., Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Maicer Izturis’ two-run homer keyed a four-run eighth Saturday night, as the Los Angeles Angels rallied to beat Minnesota, 4-3.

Twins starter Carlos Silva carried a perfect game into the fourth inning and held the Angels to two singles -- both by Orlando Cabrera -- during seven innings.

Pat Neshek (6-2) came on in relief of Silva to start the eighth. Gary Matthews Jr. got on base on second baseman Alexi Casilla's error and scored on a double by Casey Kotchman. Izturis then hit his fifth home run of the season -- and his second in two games -- to put LA up, 3-2.

Reggie Willits scored on a throwing error by Twins’ catchers Joe Mauer.

The Twins scored a run in the ninth of LA closer Francisco Rodriguez, but he closed the door after that to pick up his 29th save.

LA starter John Lackey (15-6) got the win, giving up two runs on 10 hits in eight innings, with three strikeouts and no walks.
