Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Randy Winn capped a four-hit night with a bases-loaded single in the 11th Monday that rallied San Francisco to a 3-2 victory over the Washington Nationals.
While the Giants ended a three-game skid, Barry Bonds went home still one homer short of the all-time major league home run record. Bonds went 0-3 with a walk to stay tied with Hank Aaron at 755.
Dmitri Young homered in the 10th inning for the Nationals, who had a six-game winning streak broken. The Giants tied the game in the bottom half of the frame when Winn singled and later scored on Bengie Molina's groundout. Molina had two RBI for the Giants.
Brad Hennessey (2-3) threw the 11th inning for the win, while Ray King (1-1) failed to record an out while facing three batters and took the loss.
John Lannan, making his third major league start, scattered eight hits and walked five batters before being removed after the seventh inning. Tim Lincecum, trying to win his fifth straight decision, had five walks and eight strikeouts over seven innings for the Giants.
