Moya upset in Dutch Open

AMERSFOORT, Netherlands, July 20 (UPI) -- Third-seeded Carlos Moya was ousted Friday in quarterfinal play at the Dutch Open but second-seeded Mikhail Youzhny advanced to the semifinals.

Moya was in trouble throughout the match against Werner Eschauer, escaping the first set with a 7-4 win in the tiebreaker but dropping the next two sets, 6-4, 6-4.

Youzhny had an easy time in his quarterfinals match, beating Evgeny Korolev, 6-3, 6-4.

Steve Darcis also earned a semifinals berth, posting a 6-3, 6-4 win over Igor Andreev.

But the fourth quarterfinal was suspended by rain. Robin Haase was ahead of Florent Serra led 3-2 in the first set when officials stopped the match. It is to be completed Saturday, with the winner then having to play a semifinal match later in the day.
