NEW YORK, July 16 (UPI) -- Andy Phillips drove in two runs when his fly ball to center fell in Monday as the New York Yankees posted a 6-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Yankees also notched three home runs, including Alex Rodriguez' 496th career four-bagger and two others one out apart in the second inning by Hideki Matsui and Robinson Cano.
New York has now won nine of its last 13 games.
Troy Glaus belted two homers and Alex Rios chipped in another for Toronto. Glaus missed his third homer of the night in the ninth when his hit to dead center fell a few feet short and turned into his first triple since April 2005.
Glaus was left stranded at third as Mariano Rivera struck out Frank Thomas and Lyle Overbay before Aaron Hill grounded out for the closer's 14th save. Scott Proctor (2-5) got the win.
Josh Towers (4-6) took the loss, yielding six runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings.
