KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 30 (UPI) -- Vladimir Guerrero's two-run double in the first inning proved to be the decisive blow Monday as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Kansas City

John Lackey (4-2) scattered eight hits over 6 1/3 innings for the Angels. He struck out seven and walked one.

Third baseman Chone Figgins, who broke two fingers late in spring training, returned to the lineup and had an RBI double for the Angels, who have won three straight and nine of their last 11 games.

Odalis Perez (2-3) gave up 10 hits in six innings, but allowed only three runs. The Royals have lost four of their last five. Ross Gload hit two doubles for Kansas City.
