NBA: New Jersey 111, Indiana 107

INDIANAPOLIS, April 15 (UPI) -- Vince Carter scored 35 points Sunday to guide New Jersey past the Indiana Pacers 111-107.

New Jersey scored eight straight points after the Pacers came within 97-96 late in the game. The fourth quarter began with an 80-80 tie after a 56-54 Indiana halftime lead.

Richard Jefferson had 18 points, six rebounds, and five assists for the Nets. Jason Kidd kicked in 12 points and 10 assists, and Marcus Williams scored 11 points for the Nets, who have won four of their last five games to remain one game ahead of Orlando for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.

Jermaine O'Neal led Indiana with 20 points and five rebounds. Danny Granger and Troy Murphy each scored 17 points, while Mike Dunleavy added 15 points and Darrell Armstrong had 13 points for the Pacers.

Indiana has lost three of four and is 2 1/2 games behind Orlando.
