NBA: New Orleans 96, Minnesota 94

MINNEAPOLIS, April 8 (UPI) -- Chris Paul sank two free throws with one second left Saturday night to give the New Orleans Hornets a 96-94 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Paul led the winners with 18 points and 10 assists.

Rasual Butler had 17 points and eight rebounds, Marc Jackson had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and David West added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Hornets, who have won four of their last five games.

They began the night three games behind the LA Clippers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Rashad McCants led Minnesota with 17 points and four assists. Mike James had 15 points and seven assists; Randy Foye had 14 points, four rebounds and six assists; while Kevin Garnett was held to 13 points for the Timberwolves, who fell four games behind the Hornets.
