MLB: Baltimore 6, N.Y. Yankees 4

NEW YORK, April 7 (UPI) -- Nick Markakis and Jay Gibbons had two RBI Friday night as the Baltimore Orioles topped the New York Yankees, 6-4.

Markakis was 2-for-5 with two doubles, and Aubrey Huff and Corey Patterson also drove in a run apiece for the Orioles, who suffered a three-game sweep at Minnesota Twins to start the season.

Winning pitcher Adam Loewen (1-0) surrendered two runs -- both earned -- and five hits in five innings with three walks and two strikeouts.

Robinson Cano was 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Derek Jeter was 2-for-5 with one run scored for the Yankees. He left the contest in the eighth inning after taking a ball off his right instep.

Jeter was replaced as a precautionary measure.

Loser Mike Mussina (0-1) gave up six runs -- all earned -- and eight hits in four innings.
